ASTM A53
Type S Seamless Pipe

ASTM A53 / ASME SA-53 Type S seamless carbon steel pipe in Grades A and B for pressure and mechanical service, available dual certified.
ASTM A53 seamless pipe
OVERVIEW

General-purpose carbon steel pipe.

ASTM A53 covers black and hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe in three types: furnace-butt welded (Type F), electric-resistance welded (Type E) and seamless (Type S). It is the general-purpose specification for steam, water, gas and air lines and for mechanical uses.
Global Seamless supplies Type S only, in Grades A and B, dual certified to ASME SA-53 where the order requires. Pipe is hydrostatically tested as the standard requires, and every order ships with an MTR stating heat number and country of melt.
✓   Type S (seamless) only
✓   Grades A and B
✓   Dual certification to ASME SA-53
✓   A53 / A106 dual certification available
✓   Full MTR with country of melt

APPLICATIONS & INDUSTRIES

Where these tubes get used.

Steam, water, air and gas lines in plants and refineries.
General fluid service at moderate temperature and pressure.
Mechanical and structural uses where pipe is the specified section.
Pipe for project and distributor programs.
GRADES

Type S, Grades A and B.

GRADE A

48 ksi tensile

Lower strength, for easier cold bending and flanging.
GRADE B

60 ksi tensile

The grade most often specified for pressure piping.
HIGHER TEMPERATURE

ASTM A106

Move to A106 when service temperature calls for it.
