ASTM A106 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe

ASTM A106 seamless carbon steel pipe for high-temperature service — Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C for power plants, refineries, process piping, and industrial steam systems.
ASTM A106 seamless pipe
OVERVIEW

The workhorse spec for high-temperature carbon steel pipe.

ASTM A106 is the most widely specified seamless carbon steel pipe standard for high-temperature service worldwide. It covers three grades — A, B, and C — with Grade B accounting for the vast majority of commercial orders. A106 pipe is the default material for process piping in refineries, steam piping in power plants, and high-pressure service in chemical and petrochemical facilities.
Global Seamless manufactures A106 pipe with mandatory silicon content for elevated-temperature strength, hydrostatic testing on every pipe, and Mill Test Certificates to EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2. Dual certification to A106/A53 is available as standard.
✓   Grades: A, B, C
✓   Sizes: NPS 1/2" through NPS 26"
✓   Schedules: 10 through 160, STD, XS, XXS
✓   Service temperature: up to ~425°C
✓   Dual A106/A53 certification available

MATERIAL GRADES

Grade A · Grade B · Grade C.

GRADE A

Low Carbon

Maximum formability and weldability for bending, flanging, and similar operations.
GRADE B

Standard

The default grade for 90%+ of A106 orders — best balance of strength and weldability.
GRADE C

High Strength

Higher tensile for heavy-wall and high-pressure applications where Grade B is marginal.
