ASTM A519
Seamless Mechanical Tubing

ASTM A519 seamless carbon and alloy steel mechanical tubing, hot finished or cold drawn, for machined and formed parts.
ASTM A519 mechanical tubing
OVERVIEW

Tubing bought to be made into parts.

ASTM A519 covers seamless carbon and alloy steel mechanical tubing. It is written for tube that will be machined, formed or heat treated into a finished part, so size and finish matter more than pressure rating.
Tubing can be ordered hot finished or cold drawn and sized by any two of OD, ID and wall. Mechanical properties apply only when they are specified on the order. A519 is an ASTM specification without an ASME SA counterpart. Every order ships with an MTR stating heat number and country of melt.
✓   Carbon grades such as 1018, 1020 and 1026
✓   Alloy grades including 4130 and 4140
✓   Hot finished or cold drawn
✓   Sized by any two of OD, ID and wall
✓   Cut lengths and full MTR

APPLICATIONS & INDUSTRIES

Where these tubes get used.

Shafts, bushings, rollers and other machined parts.
Cylinder barrels and rods machined from mechanical tubing.
Drill rods, frames and structural members for mining equipment.
Axles, shafts and machined components.
GRADES

Carbon and chrome-moly.

CARBON

1018 · 1020 · 1026

General machining and forming grades.
ALLOY

4130 · 4140

Chrome-moly for higher strength and hardenability.
